Wine & Cheese

It's the calm before the (worst part of the) storm here in D.C., and I thought I'd share a few pictures of some fun wine and cheese cookies I did for a friend's party this weekend while I still have power!

It was a party for a new mom's group, so my friend came up with the idea of babybel cheese rounds.

I also did packaged favors for everyone to take home:

More Babies!

So happy to meet another sweet baby girl last night, and to welcome her (parents) with a batch of pretty-colored onesie cookies:

I also sent along a few minis -- elephants and baby bottles:

Fall Wedding

2012 has been the year of weddings.  As we were dancing the night away on Saturday, Maury said to me: "what was that wedding, before Cat's, where we had so much fun dancing?"  Well, friends, that was OUR wedding.  :)  At least he described it as fun.

This post is nominally about cookies -- Jill (of wine tasting and bridal shower fame) and Brian got married on Saturday night and Jill picked her accent color to be poppy red.  So, I couldn't resist making a few poppy cookies for the occasion.

I made a few packages for the newlyweds to have a midnight snack, too:

The weather was perfect, and it was a gorgeous setting....equally as gorgeous was Jill in her dress.  I couldn't get over the flowers (done by her matron of honor and sister-in-law -- amazing!):

Congrats, Brian and Jill!  So happy for you!

Baby Shower

In addition to the other assortment of cookies I baked this past week, I also did a set of onesie cookies for a baby shower a friend was throwing -- pink and gray to match the invites.

I love doing cookies as favors...I could browse the scrapbook paper aisle for hours picking out the perfect backing, then packaging and sealing them all.

This Week In Cookies 10/14/2012

Update -- the birthday girl's mom sent me a picture of the cookies displayed on the cute fall table -- love the setup!

 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last weekend I set out for a marathon baking session with a double batch of cookies, all divided up for different fun events this week.

I made another round of leaves, pumpkins, and acorns -- along will some cute purple 1s...feminine but not too girly -- for a coworker's daughter's fall-themed first birthday party today:

And because I can't help myself, a (repeat) picture of some leaves.  I love the mini fall cookies!

I did a couple of variations of "J" cookies -- some for a new big brother, and some as a practice for a friend's son's upcoming birthday:

I also had fun with these onesie cookies for a sweet new baby that I was excited to meet this week!  Even better yet, his parents still like me even though I brought his big brother his own set of cookies that he gobbled up before dinner.  :)

Baseball

So happy to see the Tigers win last night!  I'm working on perfecting my free-hand old English D:

It's also been fun to cheer on the Nationals this season -- we live withing walking/biking distance of the stadium and were lucky enough to take in the first home playoff game on Wednesday.  They didn't win, but it was a gorgeous day...obviously I didn't read the forecast very carefully (it's October!  and was cold when I left the house!) and ended up with a pretty impressive sunburn.  Luckily I had told work I was going to the game -- if not I would have been caught red-faced handed.  :)

Cat & Jeff Get Hitched

My group of college friends have been lucky enough to have a wedding to attend among our crowd about every 6 months to a year, and this weekend we all trekked out to Cape Cod to celebrate Cat and Jeff!

It was so appropriate accomplished rhymer Cat nicknamed the wedding the Cape Escape.  With dozens of emails flying around the country, we planned the weekend and couldn't wait to celebrate.

Most of the others helped in more practical ways (rides from the airport, coordinating a rental house/food, etc), but I decided to bake beach-themed cookies.

A few sailboats and starfish later....

Cat didn't let the rainy weather dampen her spirit (she never does!), and we were all thrilled to see that the rain held on Saturday for a morning walk along the breakwater in Provincetown....and we were even MORE thrilled that it stayed that way all day.  The view was gorgeous and the light was perfect as we all gathered to enjoy the beautiful wedding ceremony.

Congrats Cat and Jeff, we love you!  The weekend of gabbing, dancing, and eating wore us out.  So much fun!!!  I'm taking Jerry's lead and resting up for the next time we can get together:
