Sonoma Wedding

A few weeks ago, we packed our bags and headed to San Francisco, and then on to the Sonoma Valley for a wedding.  It has been a really busy fall with lots of travel, and it was nice to save one of the best trips for last.  Those who know me know I am an "antsy" flier (to put it nicely), so the fact that I was looking forward to 6 hours on a plane with nothing to do and no responsibilities sums up the previous few months.  :)

I made California-shaped cookies with a heart over the wedding location, packaged as favors for each guest.  It was a beautiful wedding, and weekend -- and I loved the way the favors looked at each place setting.

Happy wedding, Jake and Jen!  Such a fun weekend.

New Year's Eve Cookies

As I mentioned, we hosted a small NYE party on Monday night.  It was a great excuse to a) clean the house, b) eat (too many) bacon-based appetizers, and most importantly, c) catch up and celebrate with friends.  I may or may not have worn a shirt with sequins.

While I didn't do a great job of capturing pictures of any of the above, I did get several ahead of time of the cookies I made:

The only non-cookie picture I got was of course of Jerry, too worn out from the party to shake of the happy new year crown:

Here's to a great 2013!

Happy New Year!

This is a quick preview of some cookies I did this week for a NYE party we hosted last night.  More pictures to follow later this week.

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy 2013!

Wine & Cheese

It's the calm before the (worst part of the) storm here in D.C., and I thought I'd share a few pictures of some fun wine and cheese cookies I did for a friend's party this weekend while I still have power!

It was a party for a new mom's group, so my friend came up with the idea of babybel cheese rounds.

I also did packaged favors for everyone to take home:

Wine Tasting

It was easy to say yes to Jill and Brian's invitation to join them in tasting wines for their upcoming wedding.  Jill put together great spread of food, and Brian created a blinded taste test complete with a form to rank each wine in multiple categories.

I can't say that I contributed much to any sort of sophisticated analysis of the wine -- I choose wine based on price (low) and whether or not I like the label -- but I'm now really looking forward to enjoying the wine at their wedding!

A few new cookie cutters later and I created these for the occasion:
